Uses: |
1. It can be used as a foaming agent for plastics, rubber and their adhesives, a reducing agent for organic substances such as aldehydes, ketones, and acyl chlorides, an ethylene polymerization catalyst, a color improver for paper and fiber, a mercury-containing sewage treatment agent, a hydrogenating agent for the preparation of dihydrostreptomycin, and a raw material for the manufacture of potassium borohydride, borane, etc. 2. Reducing agent. It selectively reduces aliphatic ketones and aldehydes to hydrocarbons, enamines to amines, acetals to ethers, and Mannich bases to methyl compounds. It can be used in combination with formaldehyde to methylate amines or hydrazines. It can reduce iodoalkanes and p-toluenesulfonic acid to hydrocarbons and sulfoxides to thioethers in HMPT.
